Peugeot has given tradesmen the opportunity to test its Surround Rear Vision technology - aimed at cutting reversing incidents - in its Partner van.
Nearly one in 10 van collisions occur when reversing or parking, with research from the Department for Transport showing 1,152 parking and reversing accidents were reported to it during 2017.
Surround Rear Vision features two cameras, one located at the base of the passenger door mirror and the other at the top of the rear panel doors.
Footage is relayed to a digital screen that replaces the conventional rear view mirror.
Partner van comes with four trim options: S, Grip, Professional and Asphalt. Surround Rear Vision is standard on Asphalt trim and is an optional feature across the rest of the range.
David Peel, managing Director of Peugeot UK, said: “More than three vans a day are involved in a parking or reversing accident, costing businesses time and money.
“Our Surround Rear Vision technology will undoubtedly reduce that figure as drivers have a far better view of their surroundings.”
To demonstrate the technology, Peugeot invited six plumbers, electricians and carpenters to navigate a specially designed obstacle course made up of building site materials in reverse.
