Land Rover is to launch commercial versions of its new Defender 4x4 later this year, priced from £35,500 (ex-VAT).
The models, called Hard Top, will be based on the Defender 90 and 110, will both feature independent coil-sprung suspension, with electronic air suspension also available on the 110.
Both set-ups provide ground clearance of 291mm and a maximum wading depth of 900mm, with full technical details due to be confirmed later this year.
The cabin has no second- or third-row seats, but an optional front-row jump seat means it can still accommodate three people.
Defender Hard Top will have a towing capacity of up to 3.5 tonnes, and will feature the manufacturer’s Advanced Tow Assist system which, while reversing, lets drivers steer trailers with their fingertips using a rotary controller on the centre console.
The commercial models will also feature Land Rover’s Pivi Pro touchscreen infotainment system, which supports software-over-the-air capability, allowing customers to download updates for a variety of vehicle systems.
Other technologies include a suite of advanced driver assistance systems, Land Rover’s 3D surround camera, and a remote smartphone app, which will allow businesses to keep track of the location, fuel level and journey history of their vehicle remotely.
The first passenger models of Defender 110 are now being delivered to customers.
