Toyota has updated the commercial variant of its Corolla Touring Sports hybrid estate car.
The new model is fitted with an updated powertrain, which develops more power and provides greater efficiency.
Built in Britain at Toyota’s Burnaston plant, the Corolla van uses the same 1.8-litre petrol hybrid engine as the Corolla passenger car.
The van’s load-carrying qualities are undiminished, with 1,326 litres of loadspace, the ability to carry a 425kg payload and tow up to 750kg. The conversion from Corolla Touring Sports to Commercial includes a rubber load space lining, full bulkhead grille, interior light and 12v power outlet
Total power from the engine is 140PS, bringing a 1.7-second reduction in the 0-62mph time to 9.4 seconds. CO2 emissions are from 100g/km, with fuel economy from 64.2mpg (all figures WLTP combined cycle).
The Toyota Safety Sense system has been updated with improvements to many of its accident detection systems and added new functions that increase safety. The van is also capable of over-the-air software updates.
The new Corolla Commercial has a CV on-the-road price of £24,503. Standard equipment includes an eight-inch infotainment screen, heated front seats, automatic headlights and dual-zone air conditioning.
As part of the Toyota Professional range of LCVs, it is eligible for five years’ free roadside assistance.
