Volvo XC90 facelift unveiled: pricing and specification

Volvo has updated the XC90 with a fresh look, updated technology and more efficient powertrains.

The revised seven-seat model will be sold alongside the electric EX90, rather than being replaced by it.

Prices for the new XC90 start at £63,790. The powertrain line-up is carried over from the existing XC90, albeit with updates to improve efficiency.

There's a mild hybrid petrol and a plug-in hybrid.

The entry-level B5 has 250PS and CO2 emissions of 196g/km. The T8 plug-in hybrid is expected to be the most popular option.

Priced from £72,650, the T8 has a power output of 455PS and an official electric range of 44 miles. It sits in the 8% benefit-in-kind tax band.

Visual changes for the new XC90 are largely centred around the front end. There's a new grille, headlights and bumper. It helps to align the car's styling with Volvo's newer electric models, like the EX30 and EX90.

On the inside, the biggest difference is a new infotainment system. It uses a new, larger touchscreen that now measures 11.3-inches and a re-worked user interface. There's also a revised centre console with more storage space than before.

Changes to the XC90's suspension are said to improve ride comfort, with adaptive dampers fitted as standard.

There are three trim levels on offer: Core, Plus and Ultra.

Standard equipment on the Core includes four-zone climate control, a heated windscreen and steering wheel, heated front and second-row seats, keyless entry, parking sensors, adaptive cruise control and a powered tailgate.

Plus adds air suspension, 360-degree camera system, a sunroof and Harman Kardon speakers.

Ultra gets a head-up display, nappa leather upholstery, front seat ventilation and massage functions, tinted rear windows and a Bowers and Wilkins sound system.

The new XC90 is available to order now. First deliveries are due at the end of the year.
