The BVRLA’s membership has reached a 10-year high with 73 members joining in the first six months of 2015, bringing its total members to more than 750.

The association said that this is partly due to the strengthening economy and rising popularity of vehicle rental and leasing.

It is also believes it is a reflection of the vital role the BVRLA is playing in enabling its members to achieve and maintain compliance in an increasingly regulated environment.

In the past 18 months the association has worked particularly closely with the Competition and Markets Authority in its review of the car rental sector and with the Financial Conduct Authority in its development of a consumer credit regime. In addition, the BVRLA’s Conciliation Service has recently become one of the first alternative dispute resolution services in the UK to be approved by the Trading Standards Institute.

“We are delighted to welcome all these members into the association and look forward to working with them in the future,” said BVRLA chief executive, Gerry Keaney.

“They have chosen to be part of a vibrant, collaborative trade body that promotes best practice and campaigns on behalf of the industry and its customers. We know they will wear the logo with pride.”
