Driving remains one of the most dangerous activities someone can undertake, according to statistics it is responsible for more than 75 per cent of workplace deaths.
And about one third of deaths or serious injuries recorded on Britain's roads last year were estimated to involve someone driving for work.
Legislation in the UK has recently focused in increasing penalties for organisations that have failed to manage risk effectively and failed to provide an adequate duty of care.
The report Seven Steps of Driver Risk Management by Business Driver offers a guide to best practice in managing at-work drivers and minimising risk.
It outlines legal issues and health and safety as well as taking the reader through the stages necessary to operate a strong risk management policy.
Communicating with staff, implementing systems, gathering data and seeking ways to improve safety are all covered in the report as well as useful links to further reading and resources.
The report says action on risk management not only saves lives but can also help increase profits, meet targets for CO2 emissions, improve staff satisfaction and ensure the business stays on the right side of the law.
