VAN sales have continued to increase in 1997 and October was no different with sales of light vans totalling 6,987 (October 1996: 6,612) and sales of panel vans totalling 12,033 (October 1996: 10,261).

The continuing increase in sales of both below 1.8-tonne vans and 1.8-3.5-tonne vans mean sales in the two sectors for the year to date are 70,353 (1996: 62,776) and 111,100 (1996: 100,487) respectively.
