Chinese car brand Xpeng is planning to launch in the UK market in early 2025.

The company will appoint an initial network of 20 dealers to support sales.

International Motors, the group behind GWM Ora, Isuzu and Subaru, will be the official distributor for Xpeng vehicles in the UK.

The first Xpeng set to be released is the G6, a mid-size coupe SUV. This pure-electric vehicle features 800-volt fast charging and promises an extended driving range.

William Brown, managing director at International Motors and head of the Xpeng brand in the UK, said: “During recent years, brands have taken different strategies when operating in the UK market. We firmly believe that a network of strong dealer partners is still of the utmost importance, and whilst there has been a trend in some manufacturers selling directly via an agency agreement, we remain committed to the traditional model, allowing dealers the opportunity for the customer to have a positive brand experience.”

In a recent survey asking which new entrants to the UK car market are most likely to succeed, a panel of car dealers ranked the chances of Xpeng the highest.
