FLEET managers made a beeline for the Institute of Car Fleet Management stand at the Fleet Motor Show, with the latest recruits to the ICFM crossing an entire continent to enrol. Fleet administrators Sergei Zhitsev and Oleg Shvets from tobacco firm Philip Morris in Moscow and St Petersburg signed up as associate members of the institute, which provides a formal training programme for fleet managers and works to advance the profession.

Eddie West, accounting services manager of Honeywell Control Systems and founding council member of the ICFM, said: 'We've had the highest number of forms filled in on the stand ever. The ICFM now has a power and momentum of its own - we are no longer having to sell it. Fleet managers are now looking it out.'

Roger Glenwright, group fleet manager of Siemens, added: 'With the RAC scholarships for the ICFM diploma, and diploma holders already out there, fleet managers are recognising that the people with diplomas are going places.'
