IAM Fleet Training has won a four-year solus contract to provide driver training to the Health and Safety Executive's inspectors. The safety watchdog is making driver training available to more than 700 members of staff who are required to make regular journeys by car.
The executive, which has its work overseen by the Department of the Environment, Transport and Regions, will receive detailed reports and risk assessments from IAM trainers on drivers' abilities. A spokesman said: 'It is vital that we are seen to be doing everything possible to minimise the risk our drivers face on the road.'
Michael Coleman, director of operations at IAM Fleet Training, said: 'Employers should take note of this example of an important organisation such as the HSE practising what it preaches.'
