A REVISED Passat is to be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show on September 28, featuring a redesigned front and an expanded choice of engines. The latest version of Volkswagen's upper medium saloon and estate range will make its UK debut at the Birmingham International Motor Show in October and go on sale early in 2001.

The final engine line-up has yet to be confirmed but it is likely to include four petrol units, including a new 170bhp V5, and three diesels. S, SE, Sport and V trims will be retained.

First official pictures of the new Passat show a restyled front with chrome grille and deeper, wider air inlets. The rear has redesigned light clusters and - for top specification models - chrome rubbing strips and window surrounds have been added.
