FORD is recalling thousands of new rear-wheel-drive Ford Transits to replace wheel nuts to prevent possible loosening and check a joint in the steering system. For the wheel nut action the affected vehicles - 20,000 in the UK - include those from initial production to September 4, 2000.
The vehicles recalled for steering checks - 5,600 in the UK - were produced between June 16 and September 18, 2000. Neither of these actions involves sudden loss of vehicle control and no accidents or injuries have been reported. Transit operators should contact their local dealer.
