Teams from LeasePlan, ARVAL PHH, Fleetlease, Hertz Rent A Car, VELO, Enterprise Rent A Car, Windsor Vehicle Leasing, Alphabet, BMW Financial Services, Inchcape Fleet Solutions and the Fleet Support Group took part.
The Reading circuit, the venue for the South East heat, provided a real test of driving skill with its simulated wet weather driving surface providing some gripping bumper-to-bumper racing during the two-and-a-half-hour endur-ance race. With all teams having to make three pit stops including a tyre change - undertaken by Kwik-Fit Fleet - places changed quickly.
At the end, Alphabet beat ARVAL PHH to the chequered flag by 20 seconds, and both now go forward to the grand final to be held on June 9 at Milton Keynes.
Battling it out for honours in Thursday's (April 18) West Midlands heat of the Challenge are Carillion Fleet Management, Lombard Vehicle Management, HSBC Vehicle Finance, Hertz Lease, Grosvenor Vehicle Contracts, ALD, Overdrive, Key Fleets, LloydsTSB autolease and Motability. Results in next week's Fleet News.
