Further evidence of diesel's rise is witnessed with the first UK track appearance of a diesel-powered racing car.

The Golf, prepared by Volkswagen Racing UK, is a 150bhp TDI PD model, modified to produce 165bhp and 228lb-ft of torque. The diesel Golf will compete in the Volkswagen Racing Cup against Beetles, Golfs, Corrados and Ventos, and will be driven by reigning champion Michael Neuhoff.
