THE Association of Car Fleet Operators has selected the Volkswagen Passat as its Fleet Car of the Year, with the Citroen Berlingo taking the light van title and Ford Transit winning the panel van category.

The annual poll of ACFO members reflected exactly the results of the Fleet News Awards on March 18.

Both the Passat and Transit were ACFO winners last year, but it is the first time the Berlingo has featured in the awards.

ACFO chairman Tony Leigh said: 'The high numbers of votes cast shows our members are still committed to recognising the tools that do the job for them. All three winners clearly provide fleet operators and their drivers with what they need.'

Members were asked to nominate vehicles based on operating experience over the previous 12 months. The winners are decided on value for money, breadth and depth of range, reliability, driver appeal, service back-up and availability.
