THE way you choose to livery your vehicles can have a significant impact on vehicle residuals, warns David Hill, senior editor of CAP Red Book.

He said: 'Your thinking should start with the base colour. Everyone prefers white, although you can get way with having a few red or blue vans as part of your mix. If you choose an unusual base livery colour, your van is immediately worth less.

'When it comes to the actual design, vinyl transfers and stickers are a good choice because they are pretty easily removed. Most major auctions now provide sticker removal services that will get the vehicle back into shape before it faces bidding. The new full wrap systems look good in that, theoretically, they protect the entire surface of the van from harm and you should have pristine paint underneath.

'However, I've yet to see one removed so I'll reserve final judgement until then.'
