EUROPEAN courier company Fraser Freight is claiming major savings from fitting Thales Telematics' Orchid fleet management solution to its mixed fleet of 14 vehicles.

The company specialises in offering a 24-hour vehicle delivery service throughout Europe delivering to various companies in the high-tech and cosmetic sector.

Orchid has provided Fraser Freight with fleet manage-ment capabilities that include real-time traffic information, emergency services support, vehicle violation alarm, out-of-hours monitoring and in-cab messaging services.

Monitoring capabilities for its fleet of vehicles include load tracking, construction of route plans and floating car data with which to analyse traffic flow, and it allows its vehicles to detect and avoid congestion.

For high-value consign-ments, Orchid provides an accurate geo-fencing system, with automatic alerts if vehicles stray outside an assigned area or from a pre-arranged route.
