HAVANT Borough Council has ordered a fleet of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) vehicles as part of policy aimed at reducing exhaust emissions.

The fleet of 17 2.0-litre Convoy hi-loaders and tippers is worth more than £370,000 at showroom prices and will be used by the council's parks, maintenance and litter collection services.

Karen Mead, spokeswoman at supplying dealer Adams More, said: 'LPG vehicles are clean and economical and are proving to be a popular choice among local authorities.'
