Mike Wear, Motability Operations' manufacturer and dealer relations director, has been awarded an OBE in the New Year’s Honours for his public service as chair of the Vehicle Crime Reduction Action Team (VCRAT).

The award recognises his work alongside other industry and civil service representatives in meeting the targets of the Home Office to reduce theft from, and of, cars in the UK over the last five years.

Wear said: 'I am absolutely delighted to be receiving this award - it recognises the combined efforts of all the groups represented on the action team and the professional manner in which it is driven by the Home Office and Civil Service.'

From 1969 until 2003 Wear worked for Ford, culminating in his appointment as fleet director.
