Van fleets looking lower their fuel bills and CO2 emissions by switching to LPG are being urged to act now.

Ford Motor Company has announced that it is ceasing production of the petrol Ford Transit on 27 May 2011. The petrol Transit forms the basis of the successful Ashwoods conversion - so anyone wanting an Ashwoods LPG Transit will have to act fast. Due to lead times, all vehicles must be ordered by 11 March 2011.

Mark Roberts, managing director of Ashwoods Automotive, said: “We have seen a huge rise in interest in our LPG vans following the tightening of restrictions in the London Low Emission Zone.

“However with the production of the petrol Transit coming to an end, companies wanting a brand new LPG Transit have to act now.”

LPG vans emit just a fraction of the harmful exhaust emissions – NOx and PM10 - of even a Euro VI-compliant diesel van. Converting to liquid petroleum gas can also save fleets or owner-operators up to 40% on their fuel bills.
