With revellers set to invade the West Country over the next few days as they head off to Glastonbury, RAC is recommending that fleets plan their journeys to avoid traffic chaos.

RAC’s patrol ambassador Kevin Andrews will be one of the large RAC team providing 24 hour assistance throughout the week.

He said: “I would advise drivers to check their proposed route before setting off to make the journey as trouble-free as possible – visit www.rac.co.uk/route-planner to get directions, check traffic conditions and calculate fuel costs for your route in one single step.

“We see all kinds of weird and wacky breakdowns but the most common issue we get is from people who’ve lost their car keys.”

RAC advises festival-goers to use the following routes to reach Glastonbury:

From London: M3 then A303 and A37 (postcode for sat-nav: TA11 7DP)

From the North East: A1 or M1, M25 to M3 (junction 12), then A303 and A37 (postcode for sat-nav: TA11 7DP)

From the Midlands: M40 and A34 to A303 and A37 (postcode for sat-nav: TA11 7DP)
