Nissan’s corporate sales director James Douglas is leaving to join Audi, but his new role with the company is yet to be disclosed.

However, he is widely expected to fill the vacancy left by Iain Carmichael, who left his position as fleet sales director at Audi UK after six years in the role in May.

Audi confirmed Douglas’s appointment and an official announcement is expected shortly.

Douglas joined Nissan in 1998 as area fleet manager and held several sales and marketing roles within the company before becoming fleet sales director in 2007. He was promoted to corporate sales director, replacing Tony Lewis, in January 2011.

A Nissan spokesman said: “James will leave Nissan officially at the end of October, but is no longer taking an active role.

“The corporate sales division is currently being headed by Barry Beeston, fleet sales director. A replacement will be announced shortly.”
