Mark Group is the first company within the UK to be independently assessed and certified by BSI to the internationally-recognized standard, BS ISO 39001.
The award recognizes business excellence in achieving the stringent requirements of the road traffic safety (RTS) management system standard and a commitment to on-going business improvement.
With over 2,000 employees and a fleet of over 1,000 vehicles, BS ISO 39001 has provided Mark Group with a platform and structure to deliver and demonstrate a staunch commitment to road safety and mitigating business risk.
“Global research has shown that death and serious injury can be considerably reduced by adopting a holistic safe system approach to RTS,” said Elaine Munro, global portfolio manager at BSI. “The management consistencies offered by an internationally-recognized certification scheme have compelling safety, risk management and commercial benefits which can only help in reducing accidents and fatalities”.
Environmental and road safety manager at Mark Group, Jamie Bogg, said: "The management system approach offered by BS ISO 39001 helps us reduce waste resource and cost within our fleet department while promoting involvement and ownership, but, more importantly ensures we are doing all we can to be a responsible fleet operator.”
“Working to fully implement BS ISO 39001 has allowed us to take a structured and independent review of our existing provisions, but more importantly, by separating road safety from our health and safety policies and procedures, we have increased focus in what is our highest risk activity - driving for work.”
