After showing a continued commitment to the environment, Northgate Vehicle Hire has been awarded the ISO 14001 accreditation.

An internationally recognised standard that sets out to organisations how to put in place an effective Environmental Management System, the ISO 14001 allows a company to identify aspects of its business that impact on the environment and also understand those environmental laws that are relevant to its operations.

It also enables a business to produce clear objectives and implement a management programme to achieve them, with regular reviews for continuous improvement.

Implementing an ISO 14001 environmental standard meant that Northgate could effectively balance between maintaining profitability and reducing environmental impact.

Colin Gilstin, group health, safety and environment manager at Northgate, said: “This standard is just the beginning for us in terms of continued improvements and is absolutely key when it comes to raising and improving awareness of Northgate’s environmental commitment.

“We are thrilled to have been recognised with this external accreditation and are now in a position to communicate our priorities to customers externally, as well as to our employees and want to improve our efforts further by setting benchmarks to continue reducing our impact on the environment moving forwards.”
