Iain Carmichael has left his position as fleet sales director at Audi UK after six years in the role.

In a statement to Audi's commercial partners, Martin Sander, director of Audi UK said: "Please be advised that Iain Carmichael has decided to pursue other opportunities outside of the Group, and will therefore be leaving the business by mutual agreement.

"I would like to thank Iain for his contribution during the 13 years service with the business, and wish him well for his next opportunity."

Sander added that while a replacement was being recruited, fleet-related enquiries would be dealt with by contract hire and leasing manager Warren Richards.

Carmichael had presided over strong growth in Audi corporate sales as the company reached record levels of new car registrations in successive years, helping it battle with BMW for position as the largest premium badge manufacturer in the UK.

The company's fleet registrations in 2011 of 65,380 represented a 13% increase over 2010, and took Audi to within 3,500 units of BMW in the corporate sector.
