Specsavers Corporate Eyecare and the Driving Instructors Association (DIA) are working together to improve the eyecare of driving instructors and their students.

From 1 February 2013, Specsavers Corporate Eyecare will provide Premium Club vouchers to all 12,000 individual and corporate members of the DIA, entitling them and their families to discounts on glasses. Driving eyesight information packs will also be available for all corporate members of the DIA.

Carly Brookfield, head of membership services for the DIA says: ‘As a Fleet Training body, via DIAmond, with one of the largest number of fleet registered members we are looking to educate both trainers and fleet customers on eye health for driving issues.  We recognise the commitment Specsavers has to road safety and the positive benefits of good, regular eyecare, so it is a good fit for us to work together. We are delighted that they have agreed to provide this important safety incentive for our members. With driving instructors not only spending a great deal of time on the roads themselves but also being key influencers over other drivers, this campaign will be well positioned to raise the profile of driver eyecare.’

Suzanne Randall, corporate account manager for Specsavers Corporate Eyecare says: ‘We have long campaigned for regular eyecare to be required by Law for all drivers. Our partnership with the DIA is a good avenue for reaching road users with our message that sight tests save lives. The initiative aims to improve the eyecare and, therefore, the safety of the DIA members by giving them access to eyecare at a reduced cost. It is hoped the message will also filter down, through the instructors, to the individual drivers, helping to make the roads safer for us all.’
