Technology behind fleet systems should be upgraded more often, according to discussions at the Rental Technology Summit.
Held last week by automotive technology provider Fleetondemand, the research gathered at the summit showed that the ever evolving and sophisticated technology needs of corporate fleet clients via leasing and rental companies has become a key feature in providing software as a service.
As a result the requirement for technology change requests and frequent new release features has become increasingly imperative in modern systems development.
Sarah Easton, managing director at Fleetondemand said: "We are delighted by the response and feedback that we have had from our inaugural Summit. This has been a culmination of 3 years hard work from everyone in the Fleetondemand team and would not have been possible without the support of our customers, suppliers and partners. In a week where we have also launched our new website, times are very exciting."
Caroline Gallagher, director – corporate sales, Thrifty Car Rental said: "The Summit was a unique and interesting way of promoting the future technology market . It is not often that customers and suppliers attend an event like this together."

Sir – your online article “Fleet technology providers must upgrade functionality more often” (October 21, 2014) delivers a misleading picture. Jaama is the UK’s leading provider of fleet, asset and rental management software. One of the reasons that Jaama has established this position is because of its strategy to ensure all users of Key2 software operate on a standard platform and can therefore access the very latest technology advancements by taking our latest software release. Jaama does not require its customers to pay for costly upgrades to systems. Our development team is consistently introducing new functionality to existing modules as well as delivering totally new modules to benefit our clients. As such all of our customers benefit from those upgrades automatically and at no additional cost.
