A new course is aiming to help women working across the fleet sector feel confident, clear and persuasive when speaking publicly.

The Women’s Voices in Fleet course is being offered to members of the British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association (BVRLA) in partnership with the Association of Fleet Professionals (AFP), marking the latest strategic collaboration between the two professional bodies.

Earlier this year, the pair launched a salary sacrifice course for fleets and pledged to work more closely together to the benefit of their members.

Taking place from May 20-21, this new two-day course is specifically designed to support women working in the fleet sector, enabling them to speak with confidence and clarity in any setting.

The fear of public speaking is widespread and means that knowledge, ideas or experiences are not shared, while also creating personal challenges relating to fear and anxiety, says the BVRLA.

The Women’s Voices in Fleet course aims to equip women with clear guidance and a toolkit to support them on an ongoing basis.

Mark Pow, head of learning and development at the BVRLA, said: “As a sector we are making a lot of positive strides to make it a more inclusive environment where everyone can flourish.

“The Women’s Voices in Fleet course is a great way to accelerate that progression.

“We are fortunate to have incredible individuals working across the BVRLA membership, this course will help to make sure they can all have their voices heard.”

The AFP first launched a course to give women working in the fleet industry the confidence to have their voices heard in 2023.

Ronnie Gillman, training manager at the AFP, said: “We are pleased to be expanding our collaboration with the BVRLA.

“Together, we are making vital resources available to more individuals working in fleet, expanding those opportunities to raise knowledge and standards.

“The salary sacrifice training we recently delivered in conjunction with the BVRLA was very popular with our members.

“The Women’s Voices in Fleet course has the power to change lives and careers and we are delighted to be giving more industry colleagues the opportunity to develop their full potential.”

The Women’s Voices in Fleet two-day course is being held from May 20-21 and costs £650. More details are available on the BVRLA website
