Dacia has confirmed pricing for its Nissan Qashqai-rivalling Bigster, which is set to go on sale later in the year.

It's available for £24,995, with a choice of three trim levels and three powertrains.

The introduction of the Bigster kickstarts the expansion of Dacia into new segments. It's one of three new models planned.

Based on the 2021 Bigster Concept, the new car has a bold, rugged appearance.

As a C-segment SUV, the Bigster will compete with heavyweights like the Nissan Qashqai and Kia Sportage. Dacia says it delivers the best value for money in the segment.

The boxy design benefits practicality, with Dacia claiming the Bigster to be "one of the most spacious" vehicles in its segment. It has a 40:20:40 split folding rear seat and a 667-litre boot.

The Bigster will be available in the UK with three trim levels. These include Expression, as well as two top-specification finishes – Journey and Extreme. The entire range comes in under £30,000 on-the-road.

All versions are equipped with keyless entry, a 10.1-inch central touchscreen, dual zone automatic air conditioning, alloy wheels, front and rear parking sensors, Multiview camera, automatic wipers, Hill Start Assist, four YouClip attachment points and intelligent speed assist cruise control with speed limiter.

Journey starts from £26,245 on-the road. It gains 19-inch semi-diamond cut alloy wheels, bespoke Journey seating upholstery, front passenger seat lumbar support, and a powered tailgate.

Extreme, built for outdoor enthusiasts, is priced from £26,494 on-the-road. It comes with 18-inch semi-diamond cut alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, modular roof bars, washable MicroCloud TEP upholstery and rubber mats as standard.

Both top trim levels gain a heated steering wheel, heated front seats, wireless phone charging, high beam assist, heated and electronically adjustable door mirrors and rear window privacy glass and can be specified with an optional two-tone black painted roof.

Three powertrain options will be available. The flagship model will use a 155PS hybrid engine based on Dacia's existing hybrid powertrain. In the Bigster it is the most efficient powertrain option, emitting 105g/km of CO2 and returning 60mpg.

The TCe mild-hybrid petrol is the cheapest engine option. It emits 122mpg and achieves 51.4mpg. A 130PS petrol unit with all-wheel-drive is also offered. CO2 emissions are 134g/km, with fuel economy of 46.3mpg.
