Dacia has revealed its Nissan Qashqai-rivalling Bigster, which is set to go on sale next year.

The introduction of the Bigster kickstarts the expansion of Dacia into new segments. It's one of three new models planned.

Based on the 2021 Bigster Concept, the new car has a bold, rugged appearance.

As a C-segment SUV, the Bigster will compete with heavyweights like the Nissan Qashqai and Kia Sportage. Dacia says it will deliver the best value for money in the segment. Pricing is yet to be confirmed.

The boxy design benefits practicality, with Dacia claiming the Bigster to be "one of the most spacious" vehicles in its segment. It has a 40:20:40 split folding rear seat and a 667-litre boot.

Standard features include keyless entry, dual zone climate control, rear view camera, parking sensors and a 10-inch infotainment touchscreen.

Three powertrain options will be available. The flagship model will use a 155PS hybrid engine based on Dacia's existing hybrid powertrain. In the Bigster it develops more power and is also said to be 6% more efficient.

There will also be a 140PS mild-hybrid petrol and a 130PS petrol unit with all-wheel-drive.
