Two multi-standard rapid charging points have been installed by Siemens in Cirencester and Moreton-in-Marsh for Cotswold District Council.
CDC’s cabinet member for enterprise and partnerships, Councillor, Chris Hancock said: "The new technology will provide an important strategic link between existing charging points on the M4, M5 and M40, encouraging more drivers to stop off in the Cotswolds. We are always looking for innovative ways to harness technology which reduces our carbon footprint, and the installation of EV chargers in both Cirencester and Moreton will be seen as a very positive step forward."
Using grant funding from the Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV), the charging points are installed at the Beeches Car Park in Cirencester and Old Market Way in Moreton-in-Marsh. Users will be charged £4 via a telephone call or mobile phone app, covering the energy used and an hour’s worth of parking.
One of the company’s largest EV project to date is in Bristol, South Gloucestershire and Gloucestershire. The delivery of a complete EV charging solution includes 15 multistandard triple-outlet rapid chargers with connection to the Pay As You Go national network provided by Charge Your Car. Project management, site design, civil and electrical works, installation and commissioning, and three years maintenance managed by the company’s field services team is also included.

£4 to charge an electric vehicle that has a range of say 80 miles on a charge sounds very economical at about 5ppm but what about plug-in hybrids that only have a battery range of 30 miles? Do they still get charged £4 which equates to 13.3ppm?
