The 2024 Everywoman in Transport and Logistics Awards winners have been announced.
The awards, which Fleet News are official media partners of, celebrate women's vital role in transport and logistics and highlight the varied and increasing avenues of opportunities available in the industry.
Despite industry progress, only 23% of the industry’s 1.5m employees identify as women and more than half are in non-transport roles, according to Everywoman.
The awards recognised two winners per category (Leader and Above and Beyond) and one recipient of the Sustainability Champion, Tech Innovator, International Inspiration, Industry Champion, Male Agent of Change, Apprentice of the Year and Woman of the Year Award.
Rebecca Hall, director at HH Driveright, was crowned the winner of the Tech Innovator Award, for developing technological and compliance solutions that address numerous risk-related challenges faced by fleet operators.
Hall also founded the Idling Awareness Day last year (2023) to tackle unnecessary car emissions.
Amanda Boland, chief people officer at Barnes Logistics was the winner of the Supply Chain Award (Leader), while Sarah Weller, commercial director at UK Truck and Plant Group won the Sustainability Champion Award.
Woman of the Year
The coveted 2024 Woman of the Year Award was presented to Sarah-May Harrison, operations supervisor at FedEx Express.
During Harrison’s career, she has launched a dedicated data capture centre, leading to a company saving of £1.5 million in its first year, pursuing her HGV license and through FedEx’s Women’s Inclusive Network.
Harrison is also a registered sign language interpreter and in 2023, she shared a video of herself signing British sign language (BSL) greetings, reaching 540,000 people globally with a 70.41% engagement rate.
The judges praised Harrison for her dedication to dismantling barriers and finding new ways to integrate technology to ensure equal opportunities for all.
