A team of walkers from Nexus Vehicle Rental has raised more than £2,500 for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance by completing the 24.5-mile Yorkshire Dales Three Peaks Challenge.
The walking team comprised 11 Nexus employees, 10 of whom completed the challenge after scaling Pen-Y-Ghent (694m), Whernside (736m) and Ingleborough (723m). A further two Nexus team members formed a support crew on the day. The walkers were guided by the Kuta Outdoors team, a qualified expedition and mountain leading group.
Split into two groups of moderate and fast walking speeds, three walkers completed the course in 8 hours 53 minutes with a jog down the final descent at Ingleborough and sprint over the finish line.
Three more finished the challenge in less than 12 hours, with the remainder of the group crossing the finish line at around the 12-hour mark.
Sam Butterworth, head of marketing at Nexus, said: “This has been a great opportunity for some of our team to realise a significant personal goal at the same time as raising awareness and valuable funds for a fantastic and important local charity.
“Nexus’ ethos of teamwork and camaraderie shone through and we were rewarded with some glorious Yorkshire weather!”
The walk was the latest in a series of challenges Nexus has completed to raise money for the Yorkshire-based charity.
