Regulatory compliance is essential for all fleets and that can prove administratively burdensome without the solutions in place to efficiently and effectively manage company and ‘grey fleet’ vehicles and drivers.
However, collecting data is one thing, acting on it is another. Too many fleet decision-makers become slaves to data capture and then do nothing with it, which could be as bad, or potentially worse, than not collecting it in the first place.
Information captured should act as the basis for change implementation whether in respect of replacing expensive to maintain vehicles, changing operating cycles, altering fuel purchasing policies, acting on daily vehicle defect reports, or introducing a behavioural change programme and bespoke training for individual drivers.
Richard Evans, Jaama’s head of business development, will provide workshop attendees with essential advice on how to develop a cohesive compliance strategy by acting on data collected from a variety of sources that might include telematics, mobile apps and reports from third party suppliers.
Producing meaningful management information and taking appropriate action can be daunting. However, if data is collected it should provide a solid basis for taking remedial action whether in respect of vehicles or drivers.
‘Plan, do, check, and act’ is the mantra within the Health and Safety Executive’s ‘Driving at work: Managing work-related road safety’ document and that should be engrained in the minds of all fleet decision-makers.
Evans, who has a 14-year career in the fleet industry focused around asset management and utilising software to maximise fleet efficiency and effectiveness, will look at:
- Turning data into meaningful management information with smart data capture and processing
- How to tackle non-conformance on the road to best practice
- Utilising helpful tools and resources to maximise compliance
The workshop will also highlight how some of the UK’s best known companies have collected the strategic information they require to ensure driver and vehicle regulatory compliance.
