Appy Fleet is to donate up to £10,000 to charity to promote safe driving for fleet employees as part of this year's Road Safety Week (November 20-26).

The company, which is part of Trak Global Group, has teamed up with road safety charity Brake and UK Youth for the initiative.

Andrew Brown-Allan, who runs Appy Fleet, a safer driving app which uses telematics to score driving behaviour, said that 30% of all UK road accidents involved someone driving for business.

To support Road Safety Week, the company has launched the 'Perfect 10 Challenge', a competition to find the UK’s safest fleet drivers.

Brown-Allan said: “Any UK fleet – cars and/or vans - can take part. We are using the Appy Fleet app to highlight road safety for business driving and raise money for UK Youth and Brake, two charities who do great work in promoting safety on the roads and among young drivers.

“Applications are through our dedicated landing page, where each organisation can register to enter the competition.

"They will then receive an information pack and simple instructions on how their drivers can download our Appy Fleet app to their smartphone.

"The app uses telematics to score how people drive, and for every journey on Appy Fleet of over 10 miles that scores a perfect 10, we will donate £10 to charity, up to £10,000.”

In addition, the best-performing fleet wins an F-1 style VIP karting experience for 10 of their drivers.

Participating teams need to register on the landing page by November 10 to take part, where the full terms and conditions are set out.

Alice Cooper, spokesman for road safety charity Brake, said: “This is a great competition for fleets to compare themselves against their peers for road safety and we are delighted to support this Appy Fleet initiative.”
