Europcar returns to Central Edinburgh
Motorists can now pick up and drop off rental vehicles at Europcar’s new location in Edinburgh at St James Quarter.
Europcar said electric and hybrid vehicles are available to rent at the new location.
Ron Santiago, managing director (MD) at Europcar, said: “Opening in the prestigious St James Quarter is an exciting step for us in Edinburgh, making car rental a convenient option for residents and visitors alike.
“Our rental desk on the ground floor of this great multipurpose development, and car parking spaces in the car park directly under St James Quarter’s Galleria, means customers can hire and drive away immediately.
“Designed to both integrate into and enhance Edinburgh’s City Centre, St James Quarter is a lifestyle destination for the future, and we are excited to be part of the Quarter from the beginning.”
FleetCheck technician service accredited for Earned Recognition
FleetCheck’s new technician service has been accredited for the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency’s (DVSA) Earned Recognition scheme.
The company said its technician service is available as an option for the company’s core FleetCheck fleet management software and allows preventative maintenance inspections (PMIs) to be carried out using any Android or iOS device.
The information is collected automatically becoming part of each fleet’s monthly key performance indicator (KPI) submission to the DVSA in line with Earned Recognition’s requirements, said FleetCheck.
FleetCheck also said a full audit trail of inspections for each vehicle is automatically created using the service and all PMI documents – including images and other additional information - that are held in the UK at ISO27001 certificated data centres.
Peter Golding, MD at FleetCheck, said: “We’ve been recognised by the DVSA for our core system for some time, but the addition of technician means that we can now offer a complete Earned Recognition PMI and fleet management solution.
“This creates a major advantage for users, providing a single process covering data collection, auditing and fleet management that meets the needs of the DVSA. Everything is in one place and easily accessible.”

Inseegon said the forthcoming 5G Intelligent Edge software as a service (SaaS) offering will leverage 5G with video, AI, and Inseego’s telematics business to provide “actionable insights”.
