RED driving school instructors are taking to the roads as delivery drivers to help meet the increased demand for homed delivery during the Coronavirus lockdown.
Following the enforcement of social distancing measures across the UK, RED asked all instructors to cancel driving lessons. As a result of this, instructors would have no income - although franchise fees normally paid by the instructors were suspended by the company.
RED is reaching out to employers seeking temporary paid-for driving and delivery jobs to support their instructors.
Many businesses are rushing to recruit new drivers, but RED says now is not the time to cut corners.
Ian McIntosh, CEO of RED Driving School, said: “In these unprecedented times, businesses need to be doing everything they can to support the health and wellbeing of their employees.
“The benefit of using our instructors for driving roles is two-fold – it provides them with an income during this time of economic uncertainty and helps bring vital services to vulnerable people who are self-isolating.
“All RED driving instructors are safe, experienced and efficient. RED can also offer a comprehensive fleet e-learning platform which allows drivers to complete the necessary training from their own homes and is a massive support to companies looking to speed up their onboarding process.”
