Lexus has revealed the all-new ES saloon with electric powertrains, ahead of its launch next year.
The Audi A6 and BMW 5 Series rival is set to arrive in spring 2026.
With a larger footprint than its predecessor, the new ES provides more passenger space and higher levels of comfort. Lexus claims the car now sits closer to the luxury segment, as a result.
It features a minimalist interior design with reduced switchgear and a large central infotainment screen. Key controls are accessed by a row of touch sensitive switches integrated into the dashboard trim. They are illuminated and only visible when the car is switched on.
Two electric variants of the ES will be available: the front-wheel-drive ES350e and the all-wheel-drive ES500e. There are no details on battery capacity or range, yet. To be competitive, the ES will need a substantial range. Mercedes already achieves more than 400 miles (WLTP) from the EQE and Audi isn't far behind with the new A6 e-tron.
In terms of power, the ES350e has 224PS while the ES500e has 343PS. The electric motors fitted to the ES are new, with a compact and lightweight design.
Lexus will also offer hybrid petrol engines as an alternative to electric propulsion. There will be ES300h and ES350h versions.
The ES300h has 201PS and the ES350h has 247PS. Both use the same 2.5-litre petrol engine and hybrid system, with an upgraded battery. Front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations are available on both models, although Lexus is yet to confirm which versions will be offered in the UK.
More details on specification, along with pricing, will be announced closer to the car's on-sale date in spring 2026.
