Mercedes-Benz has applied a series of updates to its GLA and GLB SUV models.
Both cars have been given a mild facelift, resulting in changes to the design at the front and rear.
New full-LED headlights and rear-lights feature across the respective model ranges.
Interior changes include a revised infotainment and instrument cluster display setup. A 10.25-inch central screen is combined with a seven-inch unit as standard, while a pair of 10.25-inch displays can be specified as an option. Both arrangements utilise the latest MBUX software. A new feature is the ability to connect wirelessly with smartphones via Apple CarPlay or Android Auto Wireless.
The new models also step up in terms of safety assistance. An upgrade of the Driving Assistance package enables more comfortable control of the Lane Keeping Assist through the Active Steering Control. The next generation of the Parking package also supports longitudinal parking and it offers 360-degree visualisation for camera-assisted parking. The Trailer Manoeuvring Assist is also available for the GLA and GLB for the first time. It facilitates reverse manoeuvring with camera support.
The powertrain line-up includes four mild-hybrid petrol options and three diesels, as before. All-wheel drive can be specified on the more powerful derivatives of both.
The GLA 250e plug-in hybrid has been upgraded with a new battery, enabling a zero-emission range of up to 43 miles. The battery also supports AC charging up to 11kW and DC charging at 22kW, cutting recharge times.
The new GLA and GLB are due to go on sale later this year. More details, including pricing, are expected to be announced shortly.
