Renault’s all-electric re-imagining of its iconic 5 supermini will have a starting price of £22,995 when it goes on sale in January.
The cars styling remains faithful to the concept vehicle, with many design cues taken from the original range.
Renault 5 E-Tech electric is the first vehicle to be designed entirely on AmpR Small, the new Ampere platform dedicated to B-segment electric vehicles.
It has a light weight of only 1,449Kg along with seating for five and a 326-litre boot.
The Renault 5 E-Tech is initially offered with two powertrain options.
The Urban Range model uses a 40kWh battery and has a 120PS motor, giving a range (WLTP) of 190 miles.
Comfort Range versions have a 52kWh battery and a 150PS motor, giving a 248-mile range.
Luca de Meo, CEO of Renault Group, said: “Renault 5 E-Tech electric is a car unlike any other.
“Its release coincides with a major shift by millions of Europeans towards a new mobility which is electric, connected and sustainable.
“It also triggered the transformation of Renault Group into a next-generation automotive company.
“In the face of significant change in our industry, this car paves a new way for Renault.
“It’s at the heart of the battle to reinvent European industry against competition coming from the east and the west.
“With this vehicle, we’re proving that production in Europe, in France really is possible.”
Renault 5 E-Tech electric will have an onboard AC charger of 11kW, and an 80kW and 100kW DC charger.
It also introduces a new AC bidirectional charger compatible with vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technologies.
Renault says safety features are borrowed from further up the market, including intelligent adaptive cruise control that reads the road and active driver assist, a level 2 automated driving technology.
There are three trim grades: Evolution, Techno and Iconic. The standard equipment list includes a 10.1-inch central infotainment touchscreen, climate control, rear parking sensors, keyless entry and LED headlights.
Techno gains a 10-inch digital instrument cluster, adaptive cruise control, rear view camera and a centre armrest. Range-topping Iconic adds heated front seats, heated steering wheel, blind spot warning and Active Driver Assist.
