Tesla has introduced a new seven-seat version of the Model Y, which will be available in the UK before the end of 2024.
Offered as an option on the Long Range AWD variant, the seven seat configuration costs an additional £2,500.
The Model Y has been available with seven seats in other markets, since launch, but only offered as five-seat model in the UK until now.
Only a handful of seven-seat electric cars currently exist. These include the Mercedes EQB and the Kia EV9.
The Model Y's new seven-seat cabin configuration offers a third row with two forward-facing seats, which fold flat to maximise storage.
Access to the third row is facilitated by ingress buttons located on the backrest of each second row outside seat. When pressed, the second row slides forward and folds, allowing easy step-in and step-out. Once seated, third row passengers have comfortable headroom thanks to their positioning under the rear glass and can charge their mobile devices with two USB-C outlets.
The Model Y seven seater offers up to 2,040l of cargo volume. There is 117l of storage under the front hood and 363l behind the third row. Tesla says that with seven passengers the Model Y can still fit two carry-on suitcases in the boot and two large bags in the frunk. When the third row is folded flat, the boot volume is 753l.
The Tesla Model Y Long Range AWD seven seater is priced from £54,490.
