Toyota will expand its electric vehicle range with its new C-HR+ SUV before the end of 2025.

Building on the coupe-SUV styling of the conventional C-HR, the C-HR+ introduces a dedicated battery-electric powertrain, offering a choice of two battery capacities and front- or all-wheel drive configurations.

Toyota has confirmed two battery options: a 57.7kWh unit available exclusively with front-wheel drive and a larger 77kWh option offered with both front- and all-wheel drive.

A predicted WTLP range of up to 373 miles

The Japanese manufacturer estimates a maximum WLTP range of up to 373 miles, depending on the configuration, although official homologation figures are yet to be finalised.

The C-HR+ features an 11kW onboard charger as standard and a 22kW version on higher-grade models.

Fast-charging capability will support up to 150kW DC charging, reducing downtime for fleet drivers.

The C-HR+ aims to provide a balance of performance and efficiency.

The front-wheel drive model with the smaller battery delivers 165bhp, while the larger battery increases output to 221bhp.

The all-wheel drive variant stands out with a powerful 338bhp setup, unlocking a 0-62mph of just 5.2 seconds, positioning it among Toyota’s most potent European models outside of the GR performance range.

Toyota said the C-HR+ benefits from its e-TNGA platform, optimising weight distribution and enhancing structural rigidity.

Retaining the coupe-like profile of the standard C-HR, the electric variant has an extended 2,750mm wheelbase that contributes to a boot capacity of 416 litres.

Standard equipment includes a 14-inch multimedia display with EV-specific navigation, alongside Toyota Safety Sense driver assistance systems.

Adaptive High-Beam headlights, a Blind Spot Monitor, and Parking Support Brake come as standard, with higher trims featuring Park Assist and a Panoramic View Monitor.

Toyota’s Battery Care Programme will cover the C-HR+ for up to 10 years or 650,000 miles subject to annual health checks.

Further details on pricing and specfication will be revealed closer to the C-HR+'s launch later this year.
