Mitchell’s of Mansfield has invested £850,000 in a fleet of new trucks as it plans for expansion.

The transport company, which is a Palletways member, has increased its vehicle fleet from 40 to 50.

Five of the new Renault Trucks vehicles are already in operation, with the final five expected on the road by the end of November.

Sustainability and driver safety are of high importance to Mitchell’s of Mansfield and with the wider Palletways network.

Each of the new 26-tonne vehicles are compliant with Euro 6 emissions targets and all ten trucks are fitted with 2.5-tonne tail lifts and a range of safety elements including CCTV, birds eye cameras and halo lighting systems.

Richard Montgomery, managing director at Mitchell’s of Mansfield, said: “In order to facilitate growth and reinforce our position in the market, this was an essential investment for the business to make and we’re absolutely thrilled with our new additions to the fleet. They’re going to have a great impact on our drivers and form a large part of our plan for the business.

“Our intent is to have everyone working in our traffic department to take their International CPC in road haulage by the end of next year, to further improve our reputation and effectiveness in the industry. Our aims have always remained consistent – we want to ensure that we have a satisfied staff and customer base.” 

Mitchell’s of Mansfield was founded in 1968 by Robert Mitchell and has grown rapidly, joining Palletways as an origin member in 1995 and building strong relationships with the network ever since.

There are over 115 independent transport providers that are part of the Palletways UK network, delivering consignments of palletised freight to market via 450 depots and 20 hub operations.
