Milk & More is expanding its fleet of electric vehicles to more than 500, with the addition of 159 new LDV EV80 models.

Just like the classic electric milk floats, the new models will be used to provide silent and emissions-free morning milk deliveries.

Last year, Milk & More invested £6.5 million in 200 new StreetScooter electric vehicles.

Andrew Kendall, deputy CEO for Milk & More, said: “We are proud to have one of the largest fleets of electric vehicles in the country. Our new LDV electric vehicles represent our commitment to transforming the great British milkman into a modern, convenient delivery service which has a sustainable, environmentally friendly proposition at its heart.”

The EV80 provides a 120-mile maximum range on a single charge and can be fully charged in less than 90 minutes.

It is Ultra Low Emission Zone compliant and designed for urban driving, therefore will ensure that Milk & More not only reduces its emissions, but also helps to prevent noise during early-morning deliveries.

Mark Barrett, general manager of LDV UK & Ireland said: “Doorstep milk delivery is seeing a revival as people look to be more sustainable by buying their milk in reusable glass bottles.

“Milk & More is a company that prides itself on looking to the future and creating a greener business model.

“As such, the brand’s ethos is in line with LDV’s vision for the future and we are thrilled to be able to provide Milk & More with a fleet of EV80s, which will help to future-proof our business.”

The investment in 159 EV80 vans by Milk & More is the latest in a string of deals secured by LDV.

Companies including Unitmovements, Royal Mail and Nottingham City Council have also invested in the model in recent months.

The LDV EV80 is produced by SAIC in China and distributed in the UK by Harris Group. A second electric model, the compact EV30, will join the LDV line-up next year.
