Martin Plant Hire has expanded its telematics solution from Ctrack by Inseego to monitor a fleet of 45 cars and vans as part of a long-term contract extension.
The company has been using Ctrack Online for the past seven years to track its powered plant, but it has now taken the decision to combine all tracking requirements with a single partner.
This, it says, will enable Martin Plant Hire to target improvements in driver behaviour, vehicle utilisation and asset security.
“We had previously worked with two separate telematics suppliers, but recognised the clear value associated with consolidating our systems so we can monitor all our resources through one solution,” explained Andy Martin, managing director of Martin Plant Hire.
“We have a longstanding partnership with Ctrack and believe their superior technology and outstanding support is the right fit for our business.”
Moving forward, Ctrack Online will be used to gain added visibility and control over Martin Plant Hire’s vehicle fleet that operates throughout Scotland.
As a result, the company will now be able to use the software to keep track of all high-value vehicle and plant assets from its head-office in Motherwell, with access to a wide range of real-time and historical performance data.
As part of the tracking solution, Martin Plant Hire will also introduce the Driver Mobi web app that will enable staff to log expenses, complete vehicle checks and gain driver behaviour feedback through a smartphone. This will enable the company to better engage with drivers, simplify fleet data capture and ensure vehicle safety procedures are being followed.
In particular, the Driver Score tool will help promote road safety and encourage responsible driving by providing individual performance feedback that can be viewed alongside company averages, it said.
Martin Plant Hire will also replace hard-wired tracking units in its plant with a wireless device to improve asset security and simplify installation.
The Ctrack BX500 unit is powered by removable Lithium batteries, which can last up to four years when providing a single, daily tracking update.
The ultra-compact size and lightweight nature of the device, combined with an IP67-rated, rugged housing will enable the company to install and conceal it on a variety of equipment, said CTrack.
Martin said: “The Ctrack Online software is an ideal system to track and protect our vehicle and plant resources. This latest agreement gives us an opportunity to not only target productivity and service improvements, but also ensure our staff and assets are safe and secure at all times.
“We look forward to working closely with Ctrack to make the most of the solution and maximise the return on investment.”
Steve Thomas, managing director of Ctrack UK by Inseego, said: “By providing end-to-end support that expertly manages every aspect of a tracking solution, we have become the preferred telematics partner for a growing number of businesses across the UK.
“We take pride in our ability to better understand the needs of our customers so we can help develop and implement superior tracking systems that deliver a range of cost savings and performance benefits.”
