Volkswagen has revealed the new Tayron SUV that will sit between its existing Tiguan and Touareg models.

Effectively a replacement for the Tiguan Allspace, the Tayron will be available with five or seven seats.

It is based on the brand's MQB Evo platform, like the new Passat and Tiguan.

Inside, the Tayron features the same interior architecture as the Tiguan with a large central infotainment screen.

A suite of powertrain options will be available, when the Tayron goes on sale. These include mild hybrid petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrids.

The Tayron eHybrid will offered with 204PS or 272PS. Both models will feature a 19.7kWh battery, giving a zero-emission range of at least 62 miles.

UK prices and specs are yet to be confirmed.
