Volvo has unveiled the all-new ES90 electric car, which is priced from £69,650.
The ES90 utilises a new platform, shared with the EX90, and new architecture. It will technically enter the brand's line-up as a replacement for the S90.
Unlike the S90, the ES90 isn't a conventional saloon. It has a hatchback at the rear and a raised ride height.
Volvo claims the ES90 "combines the refined elegance of a saloon, the adaptability of a fastback, and the spacious interior and higher ground clearance associated with SUVs".
The ES90 will be offered with three powertrain options: Single Motor Extended Range, Twin Motor and Twin Motor Performance.
Entry-level Single Motor cars use a 92kWh battery, with a 404-mile range. Twin Motor cars are fitted with a 106kWh battery, giving the ES90 a maximum range of 435 miles.
Power outputs range from 333PS, for the Single motor, to 680PS for the Performance version. The mid-spec Twin Motor has 449PS.
The car also features 800-volt electrical architecture, which enables ultra-rapid charging. At a 350kW charger, the ES90 can gain 186 miles of range in 10 minutes.
With a 3.1-metre wheelbase, the ES90 promises a large passenger compartment and "extremely generous legroom". The boot has 424 litres of space, which can be expanded when the rear seats are folded. There's also a 22-litre storage compartment under the bonnet.
An advanced computer manages the entire car, from optimising charging speeds to ensuring passenger safety, and can be enhanced via iver-the-air updates.
The Google-powered infotainment system sits in the centre of the dashboard, controlled by 14.5-inch touchscreen. It provides a range of services via a 5G internet connection, including Google Maps and music streaming.
The ES90 is offered in Plus and Ultra trim levels, with prices starting at £69,650 for the Single Motor Extended Range Plus.
Plus grade includes a Bose sound system, four-zone climate control, a panoramic glass roof, 360-degree camera, heated front and rear seats, a heated steering wheel, Pilot Assist and blind spot monitoring.
Ultra starts at £79,050 and comes with air suspension, ventilated front and rear seats, an electrochromatic sunroof and a Bowers and Wilkins sound system.
The Twin Motor and Twin Motor Performance powertrains are available in Ultra grade only priced at £83,250 and £87,850, respectively.
