What is fleet management?

Fleet decision-makers have a wide and increasingly complex set of responsibilities when it comes to fleet management – and rarely is one company the same as another.
Industry sector (public/private, utilities/pharma, construction/social housing to name just a handful of disparate categories), asset types (cars, vans, cars and vans, vans and trucks, cars, vans and trucks), company priorities (in/outsourcing, leasing/outright purchasing) mix and clash to mean that what’s good for one fleet is not necessarily good for another.
This is modern day fleet management.

Fleet managers are people managers and change managers; they consult on energy usage and funding options; they are supply chain managers and they are the juncture within a business where all departments – finance, HR, procurement, legal, operations – meet.
