Motor retail and aftersales service group Lookers is investing in a dedicated nationwide fleet of specialist delivery vans to bring customer vehicles straight to their door.
The new fleet is part of a new and enhanced service for online car buyers.
The branded vehicles, which include broad access doors and hydraulic duck tails that can carefully and safely load and unload every car – from the heaviest to the sportiest low suspension vehicles – are accompanied by drivers specially-trained in handover protocols for each brand and model bought.
Lookers has been providing a home delivery service through third party agreements. However, this move means it can fulfil and track more orders using its own dedicated fleet and experienced teams.
The company has also rolled out a new ‘click and sell’ option for customers to sell their used vehicles quickly where an instant valuation is generated by inserting the car vehicle registration number. It complements the brand’s existing ‘click and drive’ service, where customers can search, order and collect vehicles from any dealership with a 14-day moneyback guarantee.
Duncan McPhee, Lookers’ chief operating officer, said: “Putting customer preference and choice first, we continue to invest in delivering an omnichannel experience which combines digital engagement and a high-quality forecourt and dealership service that really works.”
“The new, delivery fleet will be operational in Scotland, the northeast, Greater Manchester, the midlands and the south of England, providing nationwide coverage and the company will be working with all its brand partners as the rollout continues and more vans are added.”
