Tesla will roll out a host of free security and technology features with an over-the-air update starting from next week.
The 2024 Tesla Holiday Update, which will start to roll out from December 9, includes the ability to now use the Tesla App on the Apple Watch to use the wearable tech as a phone key. The Watch functionality can also be used to view battery charge, open the front boot and remotely turn on climate control.
Fleet managers and drivers will also be interested to know that dashcam and sentry mode clips will now also be able to be saved to smartphones.
The clips can be watched directly from the Tesla app and saved on the phone to edit or share.
A full maintenance summary will also be able to be viewed on the Tesla's touchscreen.
New functionality for journey planning includes being able to set a preferred battery charge level for arrival at destination. Tesla's Trip Planner will automatically adjust charging stops and duration based on this new setting.
When navigating, search results are now also filtered to show options along the route and estimated detour times.
Other enhancements include the ability to find nearby parking at destination or at any point of interest.
Rear Cross Traffic Alert
The new update will also trigger an alert if it the Tesla detects a pedestrian or vehicle when the vehicle is put into reverse. An audible warning will also play if a cross-traffic object is detected.
Autoshift on stalkless Model 3 vehicles will be able to automatically shift between Drive & Reverse to handle parking maneuvers and a multi-point turn.
