Volvo will re-launch the V60 and V90 estate cars in the UK, after axing them last year.

The move is said to be in response to a recent surge in demand for estate cars.

Previously, the brand switched its model range to SUV-only and moved the focus to electric powertrains. The S60 and S90 saloons were also discontinued.

Only the estate models will make a comeback, however.

Plug-in hybrid powertrains will be offered on both models, with the same choice of T6 and T8 variants as before. The V60 will also be available with a mild hybrid petrol engine.

In other markets the V60 and V90 plug-ins use an 18.8kWh battery, providing electric ranges in excess of 50 miles - enough to secure an 8% benefit-in-kind tax charge.

Pricing and specs for the UK bound models will be confirmed shortly, with ordering to open in July.
